Welcome to the Orpington Bowling Club Website |
|
Welcome! Orpington Bowling Club was founded in 1929 and has its beginnings in the grounds of a large country house in the centre of town. Following re-development in 1960 a piece of land was found at the edge of Goddington Park and in 1964 work started to lay down a green and erect a clubhouse which was later enlarged. Membership is a cross section of the local community with a minority that are still employed or follow part time employment. We also have a thriving junior section with an eye to the future. The club is fully inclusive with ladies and gentlemen sharing responsibilities although both sections also have their separate activities and matches. Friendly matches are played against other local clubs and we are represented in the North West Kent League. There are also internal club competitions. In addition we have two away-day fixtures against New Romney and Canterbury, which are very popular. Various activities are organised by the social committee during the season. If you feel that we are the club for you, contact details are given below and you can be sure of a warm welcome. Contact Stuart or Norma Smith on 01689 835005 or Mary Whitehead on 01689 833911.
